Fuvahmulah: Holidays are over and students have resumed to the school. The school reopened on 30th March. Students seemed jolly to resume to their school days. On asking, mixed opinions were expressed. Some students enjoyed the holidays and some were bored during the holidays while some were busy doing their holiday homework. The on-going football match in Fuvahmulah was also an entertainment for many students in these holidays. Despite the heat, it attracted good number of audience and the students were excited to witness the win and the loss of the teams.

However, the holidays didn’t go empty for athletes. Many students represented Gn.A.E.C in the recent Makita Atoll Championship held in Tinnaddu, the capital of Upper South Province. On behalf of all the schools in Fuvahmulah, Gn.A.E.C is proud to announce that despite the limited resources, it succeeded in securing 2nd place in overall competitions, adding one more feather to the success cap of Gn.A.E.C. Almost every student excelled in their performances about which Gn.A.E.C is happy.

While the athletes were away competing, ‘A’ level (grade 12) students enjoyed a 3 day field trip to Addu. The team of students and teachers visited as many as five places studying various things which included STO supermarket, Dhiraagu branch benefiting the Business students and Hospital for Science students. However, MET office was commonly visited. Ms. Lakshmi, ‘A’ Biology teacher says, “It is the best way having of fun with learning.” Mr. Murad stated, “Not all the contents in the syllabus are meant for theoretical knowledge.” The group was put up in a resort with all the facilities at their hand.

Scouts utilized the holiday time by organizing a camp titled ‘Patrol Leader Camp – 09’. The 3 day camp was held in the school premises from 27th March to 29th March. “The sole purpose of this camp was to develop leadership skills in the scouts”, says Mr. Janees, Scout In-charge. Scouts were divided into groups with a leader chosen for each group. Many internal activities were conducted under the guidance and supervision of the young leaders benefiting the scouts in all the ways. Senior patrol leaders assessed the young leaders’ progress awarding them for the Best Patrol Group and Best Patrol Leader.
