Elections in Gn.A.E.C held

10th March was an exciting and nerve biting evening as the elections were to be held to form the proposed school board. As a response to the recently proposed to form a School Board, Gn.A.E.C received applications more than the posts at hand. Therefore, as per the declared rules elections were held on 10th March.

For two posts from teachers’ quota, 3 teachers: Mr.Mohamed Fayaz, Mr. Ahmed Hussain and Mr. Ali Ahmed Didi had applied for the membership.  The democratic elections were held with a huge response from all the teachers. Regardless with few invalid votes Mr. Mohamed Fayaz got 38 votes, Mr. Ahmed Hussain got 49 votes whereas Mr. Ali Ahmed Didi got 41 votes leaving Mr. Hussain and Mr. Ahmed Didi as winners and the members of the board. However, Mr. Fayaz extended his gratitude to the teachers who voted in his confidence.

Against 5 posts the board received 9 applications from the parents’ quota. Mr. Ahmed Hassan Didi/Dekunege got 204 votes, the highest number of votes compared to his contestants. Hassan Wasif Ibrahim/Jaymuge was next to him with 182 votes in his favor. Badhaora Waheedh/Atha and Khadeeja Hussain/Sky Rest got as close as 166 and 146 votes respectively whereas Aminath Waheedha/Jaymuge had to be pleased with 129 votes in her  confidence.  These five contestants were declared winners and the members of the board.

Mr.Mohamed Ibrahim Didi/Bina fell short of 4 votes to overtake Aminath Waheedha who got 129 votes. Other contestants like Safiyya Ibrahim/Yafa got 110 votes, Nafiza Abdul Afooru/Veenesaage got the least 64 votes and Shaadiya Moosa / Karamfooge had to be satisfied with 118 votes in their favor.

The election was held fairly declaring its winners in the same night. The board is pleased to announce the elected members and congratulates them for their successful winning. Sooner the board will start officially functioning.
